Why $2.95 an album ?  Well, I own the copyright and publishing rights to the music, and that's about all an artist really makes from the proceeds of an album after the record company takes their cut and pays for advertising, promotions etc... And it seems fair ! A simple download is what you're purchasing...

How does it work ?   Simply click Purchase on the Album you want and you will  be directed to the secured payment center accepting credit cards or PayPal.        After making your purchase, you will receive the Downloads to each song off the particular album you're buying.

As long as my costs are reasonable, the price should stay in this range.

My request to you ?

If you like what you hear and purchased, spread the word !

A little background on Solo Improvisation. All original improvised compositions,    the genus of the project was this. I went into the studio two nights over a two week period and improvised about three hours each night. Sometimes completely from scratch and at times over a nugget of an idea I had been working on. And out of these sessions, the resulting tracks   ( to me ) had the makings of a really good piano album. A potpourri of music. Contemporary Jazz to Classical to Pop to New Age  and so on...

Though the style of music is similar to my first two albums, the idea of an acoustic piano album has always been a project I've wanted to do. Though most know me as a solo pianist, my first two were full blown instrumental albums.

I have a great little recording facility, but not a nine foot Baldwin Grand.

Hence the trip to an outside facility. But I love writing and recording both ways and will continue to do so in the future. By the way, clips from all of my solo albums are on this site's Music Page.

My next and current project involves my band ( our band )  RED.  Always wanted to be part of a no holds barred power trio, bring out enough gear to fill a studio and that's what I have in this group. Along with my band mates from Philadelphia Dennis Alston and Edward Jerome Carr, we've created this fun little trio that has been well-received in a number of different venues...Last year we performed at the Tribeca Film Festival ( for the second time ), Pittsburgh Film Makers Media Tonic and Harrisburg's Patriot News ArtsFest. We also perform once a month or so at The Hotel Hershey's Iberian Lounge ( where you'll find me every Friday night playing solo piano ) and we're also semi-regulars at Harrisburg's Cafe Fresco Downtown on 2nd St.  Dennis and I have also founded the Alston-Diekemper Sound Symphony. Quite the unique set-up and sound...Really not describable...An experience that needs seen & heard.

I've had the fortune of a small amount of airplay on TV, Radio etc.. ( The Weather Channel being a biggie ), public radio, internet radio, involvement with three films this past year... So as an Indie Musician ( one without a label ), with today's technology and access to the world from the comfort of one's home, it's possible to write, record and distribute original music without the backing of a record company. Hopefully you'll hear something you'll like and perhaps add it to your collection... note... This music is also available at iTunes, CDBaby and Amazon should you wish to visit an internet retailer. And of course here...

Thanks for taking the time to visit, read and most importantly, listen to the music !    If interested, information on dates, band info, other music projects are listed throughout this site...Let me know if you have any questions, or stop by some night I'm playing and say hello...

Best from Ralph
